Giant Puffball (Calvatia gigantea)

Similar to the Western Giant Puffball (next page), it can be differentiated by its smooth skin. Both are edible
when white inside. It is not advisable to eat it when the flesh has turned yellowish or brownish. Sometimes,
like in the second picture, the outside has turn light brown, but the inside is white and ready to be consumed.
It can be sautéed or simmered. It stimulates the immune system and helps with the treatment of lung and
throat issues. It helps to fight harmful bacteria and contains helpful minerals and vitamins.
Externally, it can be used to heal wounds by applying either a poultice or simply clean stripes of its flesh on
the affected area.
Remember that fungi and wild plants shouldn't be consumed on a regular, daily basis. Alternate them with
organically grown vegetables.

Note.-The specimen you can see in the picture on the left was the size of a soccer ball.
